Property Placement

At Gray Healthcare we have a dedicated property placement team to work alongside our clinicians to ensure that service users are able to obtain their own tenancy of a property that is appropriate to their clinical needs both physically and mentally and within their chosen area using our extensive networks within the housing market, from local authorities to housing associations and private landlords. The team will ensure that each service user is fully protected by inspecting the property before occupation, checking fire safety compliance and validating appropriate landlord certificates. We can assist with paperwork associated with the rental application and furnishings bought by the service user can be checked for fire safety and/or electrical “PAT” testing. We will also check the environment on a regular basis and support the service user to get the landlord to make appropriate repairs when required.

Other issues that we take into account are the location and accessibility of the local GP, Clozaril clinic and CMHT.

Some individuals with a mental health disorder find it difficult to obtain a tenancy especially within the private housing sector.

We have designed a Direction™ guarantee stating that during the term of the tenancy, and in receipt of services from Gray Healthcare, we will ensure the upkeep of the property and replace, on a “like for like” basis, any damage or defect other than caused through normal wear and tear.
